My name is Leisa Dawkins. I am aiming to raise money for BREAST CANCER NETWORK AUSTRALIA, by taking part in the PINK PEDAL CHALLENGE - riding from Vietnam to Cambodia. I would welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make!  Please help me to make a difference for those suffering with Breast Cancer.

Unlike some of the people undertaking the Pink Pedal Challenge, I have not had Cancer.  However, I have seen family and friends battle this disease; most with success, but not all.  Everytime I see someone going through this fight I am deeply affected by what they must be going through.  One of the things that amazes me and has inspired me to do this challenge, is how these people show immense spirit, courage and determination while going through their illness.  

Life is a gift and one too often I take for granted.  I have a very loving and supportve husband and two wonderful children. I am a fit and healthy person and feel very blessed for this.  It is for this reason I feel very passionate about fundraising for BCNA and giving back and helping others in their fight against breast cancer.  This challenge will be a physical challenge for me, riding upto 65km a day.  It will take me out of my comfort zone and will take me on a very peronal journey, whilst raising money for a good cause.  By taking part in this challenge, I hope to show my children that giving back to others in life and giving yourself personal challenges, can be very rewarding and fulfilling. 

I found out about this trip from a very inspirational friend of mine, Lee Sieracki, who is a survivor of Breast Cancer.  She too is participating in the Pink Pedal and is an advocate for BCNA.  Lee is very passionate about raising funds and awareness for BCNA.  She is trained as a BCNA Community Liason person and Online Champion.  BCNA is one of four organisations that raises money for Breast Cancer.  This organisation works to ensure that women diagnosed with Breast cancer, and their families, receive the best information, treatment, support and care possible.  BCNA  informs, empowers, represents and links together people from across the country affected by breast cancer.  In 2013, it is estimated 14 940 women will be diagnosed with Breast cancer.

 So to support my amazing friend, Lee and to raise money for BCNA, I have put myself up for the 2014 PINK PEDAL CHALLENGE.  I hope you can help me support this wonderful cause.
