Team Wheeile Pink Flamingoes BCNA Pink Pedal Challenge 2014
Story
Christy McKenzie, Frances Gill and Sharon Kerr all met at Sharon's 30th Birthday a few years back, when they spent a lovely weekend together as the "out of towners" at Sharon's Gold Coast event.
Sharon had known both girls separately for years, travelled extensively with both of them and even lived with Frances in London for two year.
Sharon, who lives on the Gold Coast; Christy, who lives in Adelaide and Frances, who lives in Melbourne have had a close bond for a long time, but it has strengthened since both Frances and Christy have had to suffer through breast cancer treatment at young ages. They're not letting that slow them down (much), or letting it interfere with their mutual love of travel.
Everyone who's been through Cancer knows that you are often only as strong as your support network. Good friends are like diamonds; hard to find, but worth more than you can imagine. These girls sharing this trip together gives it all the more worth.
Being personally affected by Cancer changes your perspective, and adds impetus to give something back. BCNA is an organisation which has helped and supported Christy and Frances, specifically at diagnosis and after surgery, which are two of the toughest times for every Breast Cancer Patient.
Any support is appreciated, even if it's just reading the girls' stories. Everything makes a difference!
